Not only is it a great seasonal image, but there is something very touching about the dusting of snow on the little pine tree. I like the way the image is composed.

Upon see this image I can't help imaging I was one of the three people. Those grains look like drifting sands in the air, and I can vividly feel the pain while the harsh wind hits my face. Ouch!
The composition is unorthodox and extreme, and that's how the ambiance is revealed. By marginalizing the ground (the only border here) and eliminating colors, the atmosphere plays the leading role. Saúl amazingly catches the "air" so well. Although the elements are few, none of them can be expelled. Without those thin clouds (?) the sky will be dull, and without the silhouettes the image becomes lifeless. It might look simple, but to make it is totally a different story.

The way she grips the large paintbrush whilst showing pleasure and pride in her work is charming"

Translated to English:
I choose this shot because I could go by this place 100,000 times and never think to take this photograph. It's normal to admire that which one couldn't do or wouldn't know how to do himself (I hesitate to take a portrait). This picture is very well balanced and structured with the light. Further, I like the color and the burnt (highlights) look of the top of the stairs.

Nominated by .sashi
Those who have seen Marc's photos over the years know his dedication to landscape photography, I can't count the number of times he's gotten out of bed early to bring to flickr the beauty of the region surrounding Wallonie (and elsewhere, this photo was taken in Limburg before 9am).
My choice may not be the most dramatic photo on mmarsupilami's stream -- despite the lush color depth --, but this is one of the reasons I particularly like it... its warmth is very patient.
Thank you, Marc, for sharing these beautiful mornings with us! There are very few people who can do such great work with a Powershot and Picasa, I know you've moved on from that now, but hats off... :)

This is a quite superb image. The exposure is controlled well and the smooth result is evocative and oozing quality. I've had some tough times in my life over the past 6 months and I still have many sad days. The sun goes down and leaves us in the dark...
...but hope is there that a new day dawns again. It will not be dark forever. God is the giver, taker and sustainer of life.

The backlight is perfectly handle, the pastel tones and the incredible crispness of the man silhouette are really superbs.
Composition is very well balanced as always in Saul's work and I love the details like the light in the glasses and most of all those birds like flying away out of his hands.
All in one a great great photo !
Oh and I could add it also reminds me this lil' cartoon buddy named "La Linea" (my buddy icone) that I loved so much years ago :o)
Congrats Saul !

have a seat by lee.stephens
I nominated this superb shot, because i can still remember my reaction when i saw it.I was about to take a sip of my drink and stopped.I recall uttering a very long "wow".
I believe what initially grabbed my attention was the amazing tonality, from a stark white right throught to a black so velvety you could sink into it.
The composition is also excellent, with the chair just placed so and that figure so beautifully choreographed.Yes,i use that word as although the figure is static, there is such a lot of movement and fluidity. Moreover,i can visualise the position being changed and rehearsed,to get it just right. And just right it is,because i cannot imagine it being made any better.

Flying a kite by Gwyny1
Nominated by Anderson Fang
Personally I regard this excellent work of Gwyneth as a example of minimalism. It honorably happens to be the very first image in TP's HoF pool.
First of all the composition is the soul of the success. The kite and kite-flyers are placed uncommonly near the corner of the image. This large empty space between them seems to extend the distance a lot. Further more the position of the kite makes me feel that it's flying out of the image. I love this image mostly because it makes me think and feel.
The choice of black and white is also adequate. The tones in the image clearly s
eparates the ground and sky. This separation, plus the composition, push the kite even higher. It also helps me concentrate on the key elements without being distracted by the blue sky, green mountain and white clouds. I can't even imagine
what it would be in colors.
Digging out an interesting image out of simple things, events or activities is always difficult. This great work of Gwyneth inspires me a lot.
